Iris Presents: Wuki The Edge Tour @ Believe Music Hall | Saturday, March 4th
Hailing from New Jersey, Grammy-nominated producer and DJ Wuki (aka Kris Barman) has quickly cemented a global fan base with his ability to blend multiple genres and seamlessly mix booty, breaks, electro, and house into hard-hitting club-shakers. Cutting his teeth in the music scene as a guitarist/pianist in the electronic rock band Innerpartysystem from 2007-2011, Wukihas has since gone on to grow his solo project into the globally recognizable name it is today, racking up over 121 million streams across all platforms to-date for his music. Delivering his first-ever self-release as Wuki in 2012 with a four-track EP called ‘Something For Everyone Vo. 1’, he continued to produce memorable tracks in the following years, including ‘Diwali’, ‘Buffalo Bass’, ‘Jungle Funk’, and ‘That’s Right’. In 2015, Wuki gained worldwide recognition for his remix of RL Grime and Big Sean’s 2015 hit ‘Kingpin’, which quickly shot the producer to the top of the charts. After releasing a substantial amount of music on notable imprints such as OWSLA, Main Course, Mad Decent, Fool’s Gold, and Ultra, Wuki wanted to take full creative control over his own music and develop his own brand. He set up his own record label Wukileaks, a platform he uses for releasing edits and supporting friends that have clocked up millions of streams to date. Wuki’s hit remixes and bootleg edits caught the eyes of industry heavyweights including Skrillex, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, The Chainsmokers, Anna Lunoe, Zeds Dead, and Diplo among many others. Wuki was then offered his own monthly radio show, Wukileaks Wednesdays, Diplo’s Revolution. Not only has Wuki captivated the hearts of the dance community, but in 2021 Wuki also caught the attention of music’s most influential and prestigious audience, The Recording Academy, who nominated Wuki for his first-ever Grammy award in the ‘Best Remixed Recording’ category for his remix of pop-starlet Miley Cyrus’ hit ‘Mother’s Daughter’. Shortly after, Wuki became a Tiktok phenom with his track ‘Better’ being used on the Tiktok platform 3 million times to date, and edit ‘DADADADA’ quickly picking up steam climbing upwards of 400 thousand times. During the pandemic, his Tik Tok popularity increased exponentially when he started a series called “Beats I Can’t Release” which accrued him over 500,000 followers in less than a year. Adding to his momentum, Wuki released his debut album in 2021 which includes highly sought-after features such as Diplo, Smokepurpp, and Juvenile. Looking ahead, there are no signs of Wuki taking his foot off the gas anytime soon. Wuki began this year with a bang by embarking on a North American “Beat’s I Can’t Release” Tour which sold out nearly every date, especially making a splash by selling out Academy in Los Angeles in advance. Wuki is ending the year just as strong with a highly anticipated part-two to that tour called “Beats I CAN Release” Tour. Alongside his tour announcement in August, he released his long-awaited song in collaboration with the Vengaboys and Yo Majesty on Thrive Records. This year’s achievements are simply another step in Wuki’s rapid-fire ascent to the pinnacle of dance music – a journey he is determined to complete at record speed.
